Early Morning Shootout Leaves Officer and Gunman Hospitalized

 

ODESSA, TX -- The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate an officer involved shooting this morning. 

According to CBS 7, at around 6 a.m. on August 14 the Odessa Police Department were dispatched to a residence near S Sam Houston St. and Mable St. for the report of shots fired. 

As officer's arrived a man who was standing in the drive-way of the house immediately started firing shots at the officers. 

After the officers returned fire, the gunman and one of the officers were taken to the hospital. 

Three officers were involved in the shooting and one of them was shot and grazed by a bullet. The gunman was shot in the arm.

The names of the officer and gunman have not been released at this time but the officer has been released from the hospital.
