Driver Takes on 2 Unmarked Police Cars in Crash Downtown

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- This afternoon, a black 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound on E. Concho Ave. passing S. Oakes St. when the vehicle’s driver crossed into the eastbound lane and subsequently collided with two unmarked San Angelo Police Department vehicles that were traveling east.  

The Tahoe’s driver left the scene of the crash but was later stopped and detained by a detective who witnessed the incident.  

Following the crash investigation, the Tahoe’s driver, a 37-year-old man from San Angelo, was issued citations for Failure to Maintain a Single Lane and Failure to Stop and Leave Information Upon Striking a Vehicle.

One detective drove himself to nearby hospital complaining of minor injuries and was later released.

Police did not say if the alleged hit-and-run happened during an undercover operation or why two unmarked units were in the same vicinity. The incident happened at 2:45 p.m..
