Pregnant Murder Suspect Denied Bond Reduction

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Alexis Taylor Jackson remains in the Tom Green County jail today in lieu of $1 million bond charged with murder in the shooting death of Kristian Rose after a senior District Judge denied a motion to reduce her bond Tuesday.

Jackson,24, is one of four people indicted in the murder of Rose.  As we reported in April 2019 shortly after the murder, Joshua Jaquez, Jackson, Brian Garcia, and Jacob Martinez were hanging out at Jacob Martinez’s house on Angelo Blvd. In conversation, the four considered possible targets for a robbery or burglary. They were short on cash.

Jackson and Rose were dating and argued regularly.

Jackson was still fuming over a previous incident she had with Kristian Rose. Jackson informed the group the night of April 1, that in that argument, Kristian should never have pointed a gun at her.

The four suspects drove over to Rose's apartment in the back of a residence on 39th St. that night.  Police investigating the murder report Jaquez said Jackson shot Rose in the back that night while the rest of them burglarized the apartment and stole Rose's dog.

In the court hearing Tuesday, Jackson's attorney Todd Simons put her on the stand.  She testified that she is 11 weeks pregnant and needs medical care she's not getting in the Tom Green County jail.  Jackson told visiting senior judge Brock Jones that she has had five miscarriages in the past.  She also doesn't have custody of her daughter.  Child Protective Services removed the child from her custody because of her drug use and volatile temper.

Under cross examination from Assistant District Attorney Jason Ferguson, Jackson testified that she has an assault charge pending from a separate incident.

Simons then called Jackson's grandfather to the stand.  Bill Jackson testified that she could live with him if she made bail and that he would pay a reasonable amount. "I could make her bail right now but I don't want to piss my money away."  Bill Jackson said.  He also said his grand daughter has a temper and gets angry easily.  He said that only started a couple of years ago when she began using drugs.

Ferguson then called San Angelo Police detective Lynn dye to the witness stand.  Dye told the court that video surveillance shows four individuals in a black four door sedan driving to Rose's apartment and then leaving.  He also said since her arrest, Jackson has communicated with Alex Pacheco, John Rambo, Dylan Boyles, Eric Turner and Germaine Price; all convicted felons.  She has also been in contact with Dwayne Chadwick, who is jailed on a capital murder charged in connection with a double homicide in north San Angelo.

Ferguson then entered Child Protective Services records showing Jackson was mentally unstable, suicidal at times, continued to abuse drugs, had violent tendencies, a lack of compliance with CPS requirements and had made no progress.  CPS issued a emergency order to remove Jackson's daughter.

In closing arguments, Simons requested Judge Jones reduce her bond to a reasonable $50,000.  Ferguson said Jackson has anger issues, a drug problem and is non-compliant with CPS.  Ferguson said in this murder case, $1 million bond is reasonable.
