Man Wanted for Death of Army Vet Captured in Abilene

 

ABILENE, TX -- A man wanted out of Lubbock for stabbing an Army veteran to death was captured in Abilene on Tuesday morning. 

On June 25 at around 2:00 a.m. the Abilene Police Department arrested 38-year-old Michael Jiminez for the murder of 51-year-old Cristino Ortiz III. 

In November of 2018 Jiminez allegedly stabbed Ortiz to death in his apartment. The body was not discovered until February. 

According to KTXS, Ortiz, who was homeless, had been placed in the apartment by an organization called Vetstar not long before he was killed.

Jiminez is currently in the Taylor County Jail and is charged with murder. His bond is set at $150,000.
