Police: No Anthrax in Abilene Letter as FBI Continues Investigation

 

ABILENE, TX -- Abilene Police conducted a field test for hazardous materials on that suspicious letter opened by an employee Monday in the Taylor County District Clerk's office. 

KTXS is reporting today that the FBI is still investigating the letter. 

As we reported Monday, a hazardous materials team suited up in Abilene Monday after an employee in the Taylor County District Clerk's office opened an envelope with a suspicious substance inside.  

The letter was turned over to courthouse security Monday afternoon and was tested for anthrax and other substances.

Reports indicate the woman who opened the letter was evaluated and was not injured. 

This is an ongoing investigation.
