Hardin-Simmons Basketball Player Arrested for Sexual Assault

ABILENE, TX -- A basketball player for Hardin-Simmons University is in hot water after he was arrested on sexual assault charges.

Abilene police arrested Kadon Maurice Lewis, 20, after the victim said he sexually assaulted her while she slept at her residence in the University Place Apartment complex on Tuesday, KTXS reported.

According to police, Lewis confessed to having non-consensual sex with the victim.

Hardin-Simmons responded to KTXS' request for comment with this:

“We don’t have all the details about what happened, but the safety and security of HSU’s students is our top priority," Hardin-Simmons University spokeswoman Kristina Davis said." We will begin investigating this situation, along with our police department, to make sure we provide an environment that protects all our students.”

Lewis is a freshman point guard for Hardin-Simmons and played in 27 games last season. He was arrested on Tuesday and released on a $10,000 bond.
