Affadavit: Man Pulls Shotgun on Security Officer After Fish Argument

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police Department arrested a man on Tuesday night after he allegedly pulled a shotgun on two people about a fishing conversation.

On May 7, SAPD officers were dispatched to the La Rosa Apartments on E 30th street concerning an aggravated assault that had occurred.

When they arrived they met with the a security officer and the other victim. The two told them about a conversation that went on about a recent fish that the victim had caught. The conversation was interrupted by 65-year-old Richard McPartland.

McPartland came out of his apartment with a shot gun and told them that the shot gun was off of safety and loaded. The security officer instructed girl to go back in her apartment and told McPartland to put the gun away.

Witness on scene told police that they saw McPartland "waiving and pointing a shotgun at the security officer and laughing about it." According to the affidavit, witnesses said that McPartland also yelled out things like "Look what I got" and "No one can stop me."

After hearing all of that information they went to McPartland's apartment to speak to him. McPartland met with officers and told them "Quite frankly, I wanted to shoot the son of a b****." He then pointed at his leg and stated "I would've shot him right there."

Police then seized the shotgun from the residence and McPartland was arrested.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently in the Tom Green County Jail on a $70,000 bond.

Too bad the security guard was not armed and could have taken that crazy old idiot out of society for good.... I'm sure that even his family would have welcomed getting rid of him......

The old man maybe crazy but, we've only heard one version of the story. First off this guy is 65, if he was in a habit of pulling guns on people we would have heard about it before age 65. The witness was only able to report what they heard when the guy was yelling. Why was the guy yelling? There must have been a reason. I wonder what else was said between all of those involved. Seems strange that a person would pull a shotgun on someone for just telling a fish story. I think some of the security guard"s story may be fishy indeed.
No One should pass judgement on only half of a story.
