Suspect Indicted For Shooting Abilene Man Then Chasing Him With Hammer

 

ABILENE, TX – An Abilene man was indicted Thursday after he allegedly shot a man after an argument and then attacked him with a hammer.

In October 2018, Abilene Police responded to a shots fired call. When they arrived they found one man had been shot.

Witnesses at the scene said that Jermane Sanchez, 34, shot a victim inside the home.

The victim told police that he and Sanchez got into a shouting match when Sanchez pulled a gun on him.

According to KTXS, during the fight the victim said Sanchez pointed a gun and threatened to kill him.

The victim then slapped the gun out of Sanchez's hand which made the gun fire and shoot the victim.

After Sanchez lost the gun he grabbed a hammer and chased the victim until police arrived.

Sanchez was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
