FBI: Prepared for Action in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — Federal Bureau of Investigation agents from the Dallas office stopped in San Angelo Monday to visit with local media and public information officers.

FBI agent Ronnie Brown and FBI Public Affairs Specialist Janella Newsome held a question and answer session at city hall.

They presented a video entitled 'FBI Year in Review 2017 - 2018' and a power point presentation on what the FBI does ad how the agency disseminates information to the media.

Newsome says the FBI investigates terrorism, public corruption, civil rights, fraud, organized crime, sex and human trafficking, scams, bank robbery, cyber crime, white collar crime and other violations of federal law.

Agent Brown said most cases in San Angelo are white collar crime and drug crimes.

San Angelo is in the Northern District of Texas headquartered in Dallas.  The Dallas FBI office covers 125,000 square miles with eight FBI field agents.

There are four FBI district offices in Texas; Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso.

Newsome says FBI agents are not allowed by law to talk to reporters or comment on ongoing investigations.
