Woman Indicted for Capital Murder in the Death of Her 2-Year-Old

BROWNWOOD, TX – A Brownwood woman was indicted Thursday for the murder of her 2-year-old son.

On Nov. 19, 2018 Vanessa Nicole Narvaez, 21, called the police and reported that her child had a head injury. The child was then taken to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center where he was first listed in critical condition,  but later passed away during surgery.

On the day of the arrest Narvaez told police what caused the injuries but the stories were not consistent with the injuries.

The babies father told authorities the child climbed up on a dresser and fell off.

According to KTXS, an ER doctor said the injury the baby suffered was not possible "unless someone hit him halfway down with a baseball bat."

Narvaez told the Texas Rangers that she slammed the baby's head on the floor twice.

She was indicted on a capital murder charge which is punishable by life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
