Officer Involved Shooting Leaves One Dead in Snyder

 

SNYDER, TX – The Texas Rangers were called into Snyder on Friday Morning following a officer involved shooting.

The Snyder Police Department responded to a suspicious person at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to Snyder Police Chief Brian Hannard, Officer Whitney Merket, 32, made contact with the suspect and an altercation began. Merket has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in any officer involved shooting.

The suspect has not yet been named, but according to KTXS the suspect's body was taken to Lubbock for an autopsy.
