Only $2,265 Raised Online for Badly Hurt Puppy Found in Trap House

SAN ANGELO, TX — According to Lt. Ed Kading, the home his Street Crimes Division raided Tuesday was a disgusting disaster.

And the injured dog was on his mind right after the operation was completed.

"This poor pup was located in a house that the Street Crimes Division executed a narcotics search warrant,” said Kading.

“The owners were charged with felony offenses and we removed an infant from the residence. The home was in such disgusting condition, the Fire Marshal’s Office assisted us in starting the process to condemn the home.

“Great teamwork today by all agencies! Myself, along with all my guys in the Division hope this pup gets a great home soon!" he said.

The story broke yesterday on San Angelo LIVE! followed by all other media outlets in the city. Despite the attention and the thousands of shares, comments, and reactions on Facebook alone, the online fundraiser has so far raised just $2,265 as of 6 p.m. Thursday, more 30 hours after the story broke.

According to CVPAWS, the injured dog named “Waffles” is only eight weeks old. His owner cut his ears of himself, according to the animal rescue organization. The puppy was running a fever, indicating a possible infection from his wounds.

More money may have arrived by donations in person at the Concho Valley PAWs location at 3142 U.S. 67 N next to the City of San Angelo Animal Shelter. No one answered their phone to tell us when we called late this afternoon. We will update this if we get the information.

Concho Valley PAWS will assume responsibility for finding Waffles a foster home and a forever home once the puppy has healed.

You can donate to Concho Valley PAWS via their Facebook fundraiser here.

Tuesday, members of the San Angelo Police Department’s Street Crimes Division raided a home serving a warrant and arrested two suspects there for possession of between two and 400 grams of a controlled substance, specifically THC and marijuana. In addition to the injured puppy, an infant child was also rescued during the operation. The child was cared for by the State’s Child Protective Services, or CPS, according to the San Angelo police.

Go outside and take your dog off the chain and let him go.
