Deadly San Marcos Fire Was Arson; Feds Offer Reward for Information

SAN MARCOS, TX -- Federal officials announced Friday that evidence shows the July 20 apartment fire in San Marcos that killed five people was intentionally started.

Officials with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.

During a Friday morning press conference officials did not say how the fire started citing the ongoing criminal investigation.

As we reported earlier, the deadly fire at the Iconic Village Apartments took the life of San Angelo resident Haley Frizzell of San Angelo along with Dru Estes of San Antonio, Belinda Moats of Big Wells, David Ortiz of Pasadena, and James Miranda of Mount Pleasant.

The apartment fire also severely burned Zachary Sutterfield of San Angelo.

If the deadly fire is ruled arson and suspects are caught and convicted, there could be lawsuits for damages filed from families of the survivors.
