Man Gets 3rd DWI Charge After Crashing into Cop Car

ODESSA, TX-- An Odessa man is facing his third driving while intoxicated charge after hitting a police car and driving away from the scene, according to CBS 7.

Odessa Police arrived to a suspicious vehicle that was parked in the middle of the road. The truck was sitting in the road revving its engines and this is when police tried to pull over the vehicle.

Steve Hale, 31, then tried to flee the scene. He first backed into a fence, put the truck in drive and rammed into the police car.

After hitting the police car, Hale tried to put the truck in reverse but put it in park instead. Officers got into the truck and could smell a distinct odor of alcohol.

Hale was then arrested for a DWI and after further investigation the police realized this was his third offense.

No one was injured during the incident.
