Abilene Zoo Director Retires After Harassment Allegations

ABILENE, TX-- Former Abilene Zoo Director announced his retirement just hours shy of a meeting by the executive board of the Abilene Zoo which was going to be discussing the Director, according to KTXS.

Bill Gersonde was with the zoo for 34 years, and was a director for 27 of those years. Gersonde states that he needed some time off of the "wild" lifestyle of being a zoo director.

During his tenure of Zoo Director he had received several harassment complaints in the past several years. Gersonde also had not been at work since November 6.

After multiple attempts by KTXS to get information about the harassment complaints, but the City Office did not release any information saying the city "does not comment on employment issues."
