Illegal Alien Leads Law Enforcement on Chase in Stolen Truck

UVALDE, TX — (Press Release) Yesterday at approximately 8:30 PM, a stolen Chevrolet flatbed truck failed to stop at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint located West of Uvalde on U.S. HWY 90. U.S. Border Patrol units began to chase the said truck and notified our Emergency Communication Center immediately of the traffic.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers, Uvalde Police Department, Sabinal Police Department, and Uvalde County Sheriff’s Deputies responded immediately to assist.

The suspect vehicle traveled Eastbound into the City of Uvalde and continued to elude police. Uvalde Police Officers blocked all main intersections to assist and avoid any residents getting hurt by the evading vehicle.

The suspect vehicle came to a stop approximately five miles East of Knippa after being spiked and his tires deflating. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as an undocumented alien from Veracruz who had stolen the truck and other items from a ranch located in Brackettville, Kinney County, Texas.

We appreciate all the help from every agency involved. We are grateful that no one got hurt and the male driver was apprehended without incident.

Offender was booked on three felony charges:

1. Theft of Firearm

2. Evading Arrest with Vehicle

3. Unauthorized use of a Vehicle

Male suspect remains at the Uvalde Co. Justice Center awaiting further court proceedings. Uvalde County Investigators are working closely with Kinney County Investigators to return the stolen truck and all recovered property to its owners.
