Defense Attorney's Legal Maneuver Fails as Her Client is Arrested in the Courtroom

SAN ANGELO, TX —  Alegandro Fevala, 36, walked into the Tom Green County Courthouse Tuesday morning a free man but was arrested in court after District Judge Brad Goodwin revoked his $500,000 Personal Recognizance bond.

As we reported on July 7,2017 Fevala’s attorney, Stephanie Goodman, requested a hearing to release Fevala from custody because he’d been jailed over 90 days without being indicted per State law.  Judge Goodwin then set the conditions of Fevala’s probation including the PR bond and GPS monitoring and Fevala was ordered to have no contact with any children except his own.

Testimony today showed Fevala had frequent contact with his girlfriend’s children in violation of the terms of his probation.  Fevala was in court requesting the GPS monitoring stipulation be dropped because he was struggling to pay the $330 per month for the monitor.

Judge Goodwin followed the law back in 2017 he said forced him to release Fevala on a PR bond. At the time said, “The court has no choice.  I don’t have to like it but I can set conditions.”

Fevala is charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping and sexual abuse and two counts of sexual assault. Fevala is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old woman.  Court documents show the victim told investigators she received a social media message from someone whom she thought was a friend.  She agreed to meet with the friend.

The victim approached a black Dodge Charger and when she opened the passenger door to get in, she saw Fevala who then grabbed her and took her to a house on N. Jefferson St.  The house was unoccupied at the time. The victim told investigators she was sexually assaulted several times. She was able to escape when her assailant was in the bathroom.

Fevala is accused of creating the fake social media account where he posed as the victim's friend.

Goodman called Community Supervision and Corrections Department supervisor Cody Dawson as her only witness.  Dawson told the court Fevala was not a problem and complied with the conditions of his probation.

Assistant District Attorney Jason Ferguson then called San Angelo Police Detective Jeremy Cannady who works in the Criminal Investigation Division’s Crimes Against Children section.  Cannady testified that he was aware that there was a Child Protective Services investigation into the home where Fevala was staying. That’s how they found out that Fevala was in frequent contact with children that were not his own in violation of the terms of his probation.

Judge Goodwin revoked Fevala’s PR bond and ordered him to be remanded to the custody of the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.  Fevala was searched and cuffed and transported across the street to the Tom Green County Jail. Goodman requested the judge set a ‘reasonable’ bond for Fevala, but Judge Goodwin said he would set the bond at the original amount of $500,000.

Needs to be commended for taking the tough stance and putting this abomination back behind bars, where he obviously belongs. I had to laugh when he complained about the high cost of GPS monitoring. So, now that expense is no longer an issue, he should be a happy little camper in his cell.

if this judge should be commended then why has joshua henry get away with so many drug cases , and gets probation for 4 years and 1 year in another case , then gets indicted for shooting a guy , and does this while out on bond on two other cases, and then gets his probation transferred to another county , and already gets in trouble with the law there , so how does a judge get commended for one case when this guy is still on the street and under the rules of probation you cant even get a traffic ticket , but once again he walks again , so where does the judge get props , now he is looking at 4 to 20 years and he will walk on that , like all other cases , he has something on tom green county prosecutors , because they convince the judge to let him walk , we are happy he is out of our town , he is a drug dealing punk and now shoots someone , and the prosecutors let him go every time , where is the justice there ?? i wont vote for our court system staff again , i hope he gets what he deserves for shooting my friend , , i think the system is afraid of him , go look at his record , its public record and on line , and he has walked on everything , but funny thing , he had a case dismissed , guess what that was , stolen gun charge , .. hmmmm whats really going on here ??? WAKE UP JUDGES !!!!!!!

In the Fevala case, it is deserved. I have not followed Judge Goodwin's track record and know very little about the Henry case.

well its very simple , this guy breaks the law , gets busted , while out on bond which should be automatically revoked , its states in probation rules, misdermeaner or felony be on best behavior , and dont break any laws , but the gets busted in comal county , while on bond and on probation , now Richard Villarreal is now the prosecutor in this case in the 391st court and i bet he cuts him a plea deal to walk like all other prosecutors did, kida makes one wonder if these guys are getting paid off , hows that for a reputation , only to bite them in the butt later , but as we all know prosecuters only want a conviction , not justice , its easier for them to cut a probation deal and say hoooray we convicted than to protect our citizans here in tom green county and get this puck off the street

1 thing to say about this an why your wondering why he is getting off of all his stuff. I looked at who he had as an attorney an yes that said it all. I know he can have anyone walk in to court with any kind of charge an have them walk out with just a slap in the wrist. He charges alot but he walk's you out of there. Know by experience my ex had him an got away with lot's of stuff.
