Two Suspects Arrested for Stealing a Chevy Truck

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — (SAPD Press Release) Just after 7:00 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 4200 block of S. Bryant Boulevard in reference to the unauthorized use of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck.  Through investigation, Police developed Kennedy D. Counts, 17, as a possible suspect.

According to the SAPD, at approximately 9:15 a.m., officers received possible GPS coordinates for the truck, which had been tracked through OnStar.  

Officers converged on the area and eventually located the truck traveling north in the 200 block of S. Tyler Street.  Upon seeing the responding Officers, the truck’s driver exited and attempted to escape a pursuing Officer by jumping a fence leading into the backyard of a nearby residence.  After a brief foot pursuit, the pursuing Officer caught up with the suspect and took her into custody after a brief struggle.  The suspect was identified as Kennedy Counts.  A male passenger, identified as Jacob Alvarez, 17, sustained injury while resisting his arrest and transport.  Officers requested San Angelo Fire Department Medics to the scene and   Alvarez was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and subsequently to the Tom Green County Jail after being medically cleared.    

During a search of the vehicle and bags belonging to Counts and Alvarez, officers located and seized a quantity of drug paraphernalia, marijuana, suspected stolen identification from multiple victims, and personal property belonging to the truck’s registered owner.  

Counts was charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Forgery Financial Instrument, Evading Arrest Detention, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, and Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.  Alvarez was charged with Resist Arrest Search or Transport and Harassment of Public Servant.    

Additional charges may be forthcoming pending the outcome of this ongoing investigation.
