Ector Co. Deputy Injured in Crash in Odessa as Officials Hunt for Suspect

 

ODESSA, TX -- An Ector County Sheriff's Office deputy and another driver have been hospitalized following the pursuit of a suspect in West Odessa according to CBS 7.

According to the Ector County Sheriff's Office,  their deputies responded to a domestic call Thursday morning in the 2500 block of Bonita Faye Avenue.

Deputies were on scene when a drive-by shooting occurred nearby.  They began to pursue the suspect.

No injuries were reported from the shooting.

During that pursuit the deputy was involved in a crash with another car that was not involved in the chase at the intersection of 26th Street and Redondo.

Both the deputy and driver of the car were taken to the hospital. ECSO tells CBS 7 that the deputy suffered minor injuries. The injuries of the driver are unknown but are believed not to be life-threatening.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect of the drive-by shooting at this time. The suspect's vehicle is described as a maroon 4-door pickup with heavy front-end damage.
