Wilder to Serve Eight Years in Prison for Aggravated Kidnapping

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Sherrod Malik Wilder, 20, will spend eight years in prison for aggravated kidnapping. Wilder was sentenced early Monday morning  by District Judge Barbara Walther. 

Wilder was convicted of kidnapping Clayton Montgomery at a residence in Carlsbad, TX in July 2016.  Wilder and Taryn Espinosa forced Montgomery into a vehicle, drove him to a San Angelo bank and made him withdraw money from his account. 

Wilder threatened Montgomery with a long barreled pistol. 

Wilder and Espinosa, then drove him to a convenience store where he was able to escape. 

Espinosa pleaded guilty on June 23 in front of Judge Goodwin. Espinosa will serve 6 years in confinement for her role in the Aggravated Kidnapping. 

Wilder plead guilty to aggravated kidnapping this morning.  One count of attempted aggravated robbery was dismissed.  Judge Walther also revoked Wilder’s probation on one count of felony possession of a controlled substance. 

Wilder was sentenced to eight years in state prison and ordered to pay $1,000 fine and $180 restitution.
