Odessa: Man Strikes Woman in Back With Bat

 

ODESSA, TX-  Friday evening, a man in Odessa was arrested for allegedly hitting a woman in the back with a baseball bat.

Odessa Police arrested 57-year-old Charles Howard for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony.

At 11:41 p.m. Friday evening, Odessa Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of North Lee Ave. in accordance to an assault. The call was made by a witness who could hear screaming.

CBS 7 reported, “Once on scene, police spoke with a man, identified as Howard, and the victim, a 39-year-old woman. The victim told police that Howard had struck her in the back three times with a baseball bat after the two had gotten into an argument.”

Upon investigating, officers were able to find a baseball bat behind a door.

According to the news source, the witness told officers, “They heard screaming before seeing Howard putting the baseball bat down and the victim lying down.”

Howard admitted to the investigating officers that he did strike the victim multiple times with a bat. He was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center, and is being held on a $50,000 Surety Bond.
