Man Pulls Shotgun on Neighbors in North San Angelo
A man pulled a shotgun on his neighbors in north San Angelo Saturday night at around 10:00 p.m. near the cross of Grape Creek Road and Astor St., pointing the gun at children as they watched fireworks in the street.
Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies and the TXDPS responded to the call as one deputy held the man at gunpoint until the back up arrived. Once backup arrived, officers were able to place the man in handcuffs.
George and Bobbie Allen, who have lived in the neighborhood for four years with five children, said they'd had problems with their neighbor since they'd moved in.
"This guy has been nothing but trouble," George Allen said before his residence Saturday night as officers worked the scene taking testimony. His neighbor, an adult man roughly in his 50s or 60s, stood in handcuffs near a chainlink fence. "Nothing but trouble with this guy. We've been here four years and this guy has been nothing but trouble the entire time. First time he's ever pointed a gun at somebody...hopefully he goes to jail."
Allen said he and his children were outside in the street when the neighbor abruptly came out with the gun, threatening to kill them all if they didn't vacate his property.
"We have our cars parked here on the side of the street, and basically, we were watching--the kids were watching fireworks. No big deal, not bothering nobody, sitting behind the car," Allen said. "He comes out here from this house over here in the corner with his shotgun, says he's going to shoot everybody. He's going to shoot everybody if they don't get off his property and we're sitting here on the street. The kids are crying and he pulls out the shotgun and points it at my youngest son and we dialed 911 and the Sheriff came out and had him at gunpoint until he got back up. The kids are scared."
Currently, TXDPS Troopers and TGC Sheriff's Deputies have the man in custody and his identity has not been released.
Officers declined to give a statement Saturday night, however the man was placed in the back of a deputy's car and likely jailed.
