San Angelo Police Still Searching for Toby Fitchett

The San Angelo Police Department released a wanted poster for 25-year-old Toby Ray Fitchett. He was last seen the afternoon of June 6 fleeing police on foot after exiting a silver Chrysler Sebring.  Police said he left an 11-month-old child in the car with other adult occupants. The incident occurred after police attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The traffic stop was related to related incident earlier that afternoon.

It started at about 2:30 p.m. that afternoon at the 1200 block of Koberlin Street. While responding to the location, police received information that a man involved in the incident left the location with a child passenger in a silver-colored Chrysler Sebring.

After the suspect fled on foot, the child was reunited with an adult, presumably the guardian or mother.

Police set up a perimeter and searched for Fitchett for three hours and failed to find him.

Fitchett has four warrants for his arrest, including:

  • Evading Arrest
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and
  • Accident causing serious bodily injury or death

Fitchett was born June 6, 1989, weighs 160 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair.

Why dont u guys look at his fb page. It isnt private and hes still posting pic, music videos and even a video of his little boy sitting on his lap dancing to music all recent. Or just check his brother's house on 8th st.

I thought I heard someone say that they saw on his Facebook that he would be at municipal pool today between three and six. He would be sitting on the south east corner of the pool wearing his red white and blue freedom shorts.

Once upon a time the authorities had to pound the pavement, knock on doors and physically pursue leads and people to mine information about someone. Unless you were a known criminal or political refugee, chances are there wasn't much more than your S.S. number and driver's license info tucked away in various data banks to be accessed on a need to know basis. Today everyone voluntarily builds their own easily monitored public profile, complete with on the minute updates of their daily activites and whereabouts. Your entire life is categorized on things like your "timeline", your photo albums, lists of associates (friends) and an intrusive sign-up process which resembles more of a military enlistment form than a casual online networking application. The world now knows everything about you, from what you ate last night and where, to a detailed job history, political/religious affiliation and where you went to kindergarden. If there's any personal details you could've possibly left out, maybe your "friend's" pages can fill in some of the blanks. It wouldn't be so effective or attractive if it had scary names attached to it like "data miner" or "clandestine mass electronic surveillance-book". "Social media" sounds nicer....and hey, it's all for your enjoyment. Right?

There's an armed criminal, hanging out at all his favorite places... basically mocking the SAPD with proof of his freedom supposedly plastered on his Facebook page. Meanwhile, the SAPD has resorted to letting the public find him while they hang out and talk to each other in vacant parking lots while pretending to monitor traffic. Arm yourselves, people. It's a dog eat dog world out there!

I've provided tips from seeing a publicly-accessible page of a criminal on Facebook -- why there is not a cop dedicated to doing such minimal work, is beyond me. The CLUES are right there. They can't see the forest for the trees. Online is where it's at. Check his friends' pages, too. It's quite easy to scan through and find someone with a big mouth who likes to take pics and tag friends who are wanted by the SAPD...I called the cops about a prowler-neighbor of mine once and gave them a total rundown of his rapsheet. They looked at me like I was some clairvoyant and said wow you need to work for us! I was like, no you need to DO A GOOGLE AND COURT RECORDS SEARCH! Good god!

The loser element in san angelo posts pictures of themselves smoking pot and crack everyday. The cops could save a lot of time and money just catching society's lawless online.

I believe SAPD monitors social media... but not to look for misfits. That's probably why most big business blocks social media from their computer systems... because NO WORK gets done, just a lot of screwing off. The demise of our society is proof of that.
