Accused San Angelo Pedophile Dead at 77

A San Angelo man recently charged with child pornography and online solicitation of a minor was found dead in his residence Wednesday afternoon, Police Chief Tim Vasquez confirms. John Edward Sullivan, 77, likely died of natural causes. Police confirm that there is not a criminal investigation of his death.

On March 26, 2014, Sullivan was arrested on a warrant by local troopers of the Texas Department of Public Safety at his residence at 516 S. Jefferson St.

The DPS had been investigating Sullivan for seven months in connection to the aforementioned charges. The investigation, led by the DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID), originated in August 2013 with a complaint of obscene phone calls made to the San Angelo Girl Scouts of America.

Sullivan was later identified as the primary suspect in the Girl Scouts calls, and in other calls during which he allegedly discussed sex with juveniles, a March 2014 DPS press release states.

During the search, law enforcement officers seized multiple items of child pornography and one child victim had been identified. Additional inappropriate photographs of unidentified children were also seized, and DPS is working to identify those victims. Also seized were multiple video cassettes, CDs, two computers and miscellaneous records and documentation.  The computers are undergoing additional examination, the release states.

The San Angelo Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations assisted DPS CID with the investigation, which was ongoing up until the time of his death.

Sullivan was a real estate investor in San Angelo. Sources say that he had millions in local real estate, but he is also reported to have frequented local soup kitchens and charitable organizations to utilize their services.

So this guy supposedly had millions of dollars in property and instead of using it to HELP the homeless he ATE their food that they barely get sometimes?! and on top of that he was a hug child perv?! What a sick sick sick man... I feel sorry for his family but I have no sympathy for him.
This isn't going to be popular, but he was accused, not convicted. While I agree with the sentiments, we still have that 'innocent until PROVEN guilty' thing. A piece of work, indeed. While it may be true the community is safer with him gone, he also is unable to refute any charges.
Great job by the DPS CID and Troopers. It's too bad he never stood trial for his alleged crimes. One thing is certain. This man will not offend again and families in the community can feel a little safer.
lets see... calling the girls scouts and other under aged victims and discussing sex, he had video tapes, cds, and two computers with child pornography on them, also inappropriate photos of children... last time i checked only sicko perverts have this type of trash in their possession... i think that makes him guilty whether or not he had his day in court. unless someone wants to argue that he was framed by three different law enforcement agencies.
I lived across the street from this man for about 2 years. I talked to him several times, I was in his house and did some work on his computer. I can tell you he lived in squander, he stank badly, he could barely walk or breathe. He was inappropriate in the sense that he hardly ever wore a shirt and if he did it wasn't buttoned. I would never have left my kids alone with him, ever. He was just really odd, he looked and lived like a very poor man but I knew he wasn't because he owned the house I rented and knew from other conversations we had that he had over 90 houses. I hope they have accused the right person because I know he had another man around *a lot* and I was concerned about him.
