Injuries in Vehicle Collision at Sunset and Southwest

Shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday evening, a young female driver was southbound turning left off Sunset Dr. onto Southwest Blvd. At the same time, a 1996 Toyota Camry was headed north on Sunset through the intersection. The two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, sending the Equinox sliding into a 2006 GMC Pickup that was stopped at the light facing west on Southwest.

The Camry was occupied by an adult female and three children. The Equinox also had multiple passengers.

San Angelo Police Officer John Bouligny led the investigation. “Both of the drivers said that they had a green light, so we can’t determine fault. We’re not issuing citations,” he said. Bouligny indicated that he did not suspect a high rate of speed, either. The residents of the house on the southeast corner lot said that he did not hear any screeching brakes until the explosion of the impact. The impact, he said “was really loud.”

The adult female and one child from the Camry were transported to Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Luckily, the 2006 GMC Pickup was not damaged. But the driver saw quite a show.
