Biker Killed In Early Morning Crash

 

AMARILLO, TX — A 50-year-old Amarillo man died after crashing his motorcycle early Sunday morning just after 2:00 a.m.

According to KTXS, an off-duty police officer with the Amarillo Police Department was driving south on Taylor Street when he located a wrecked motorcycle.

After checking the area, the officer found Richard Dane Barnett laying on the ground near the motorcycle.

Barnett had sustained major injuries and even after the officer performed life-saving measures and called an ambulance he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. An autopsy has been ordered in relation to the crash.

The crash is being investigated by the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit.
