Driver Hauling Hazardous Materials Ejected in Fatal Crash

 

TYE, TX – A truck driver was killed after he was ejected in a late morning crash on Wednesday. According to authorities, the driver was hauling hazardous material.

According to KTXS, 60-year-old Robert Montes was traveling east on I-20 when he veered into the median. The driver then attempted to turn back to the right lane but the tractor-trailer spun around and overturned at the Wimberly Road exit.

Montes was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tye Fire Department and the Abilene Fire Department HAZMAT units responded to the scene as leaking barrels were removed from the trailer.
