Man Mowed Down and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas DPS responded to a hit-and-run vehicle crash of a pedestrian in U.S. 67 south early Saturday morning.

According to the DPS, Jesus G. Lopez, 36, of Las Cruces, New Mexico was killed while walking along the roadway of U.S. 67 at a location that was approximately two miles southwest of San Angelo.

Lopez was walking northeast on the southwest-bound side of the roadway, DPS stated. The driver of the unknown vehicle who mowed down Mr. Lopez fled the scene and has not been located. 

The call for service happened at 2:35 a.m. Sunday morning when the weather was clear and the roadways dry. The posted speed limit where Mr. Lopez was hit is 70 mph.
