Fire Destroys Double Wide Trailer in Grape Creek

GRAPE CREEK, TX – No one was injured in a fire that destroyed a double wide mobile home in Grape Creek Wednesday afternoon.

According to Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Aaron Flint, volunteer firefighters responded to a structure fire call around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flame coming from the attic area of the mobile home on Sun Lane.

Grape Creek firefighters made entry into the home but they didn't have enough personnel and resources at the scene to make a quick knockdown of the fire so they backed out and went to a defensive operations.

Flint says firefighters from Carlsbad, Water Valley and Quail Valley were also called in to help battle the blaze.

Flint says they are not sure what started the fire but it might have been from a fire burning in the fireplace.

The structure is a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  The Red Cross was called in to assist the residents.
