SAPD: Joyriding Juveniles Caught After Unlicensed Driver Crashes

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A car full of students were caught skipping school today after they crashed into a utility pole. 

According to the SAPD, on January 7, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the Rio Concho subdivision to investigate a possible hit and run. 

Once officers arrived, they met with witnesses who claimed that a car full of juveniles hit an AEP utility pole and a tree before fleeing the scene. 

As other officers were responding, they spotted the vehicle in an alley behind the 600 block of East Avenue D. The car was surrounded by the juveniles who later told officers that they had skipped a school field trip. 

The driver, a 16-year-old, was cited for No Driver’s License, Failure to Stop and Leave Information Upon Striking a Fixed Object, and Failure to Control Speed.
