WATCH: Planes Called in to Extinguish 5,000 Acre Wildfire

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Fire Departments from all across the Concho Valley put out a huge wildfire last night. 

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, on August 8 the Mertzon, Barnhart, Sterling, and Irion County Fire Departments were dispatched to the 7D Ranch on Hwy 163 for the report of a grass fire.

When they arrived they immediately began putting out the fire but after a period of time the Chief of ICFD called in the Forest service.

As of 8:25 a.m. the fire was estimated to have burned 5,000 acres and is 70% contained.
