Morning Commute Crash Sends Three to the Hospital Including a Young Child

SAN ANGELO,TX -- A crash Thursday morning at the intersection of Mercedes St. and Glenna Dr. in San Angelo blocked traffic at the busy intersection and sent a young child to the hospital.

According to San Angelo Police investigators at the scene the driver of a black Jeep Cherokee was eastbound at the stop sign on Mercedes and a black Chevrolet SUV was southbound on Glenna.

The driver of the Jeep was waved through by another motorist and pulled out onto Glenna into the path of the Chevrolet.

The vehicles crashed and both people in the Jeep were injured.  Scanner reports indicate a young child bit her tongue and the driver sustained non-incapacitating injuries and were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the SUV was also injured and transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The driver of the Jeep will be issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.

Police on the scene reminded drivers that only a police officer or transportation official can legally waive motorists through traffic.
