UPDATE: AEP Says Crews are Working to Restore Power in Southwest San Angelo by 9 P.M.

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Residents in Southwest San Angelo are without electricity this hour according to information from the San Angelo Police Department and AEP.

The SAPD issued a Nixle notification indicating a pole fire caused a power outage in the area of Southwest San Angelo/Canadian near Lamar Elementary School.  

Residents near Bonham elementary school have also reported a power outage. 

The SAPD says AEP is handling the situation and power will be restored as soon as possible.  

Temperatures are expected to drop to around the freezing mark tonight so residents who depend on electricity, especially the elderly, are concerned about the outage.

UPDATE: 7:08 p.m.

AEP crews are working on the pole fire near Lamar Elementary School.  

AEP representatives request residents who are experiencing a power outage report that to 1-866-223-8508.  

An AEP representative told LIVE! they expect to restore power to all 1,100 homes by 9 p.m.
