Police Cruiser Damaged by Unaware Driver on Loop 306

SAN ANGELO, TX-- A San Angelo Police cruiser was hit during a traffic jam caused by a broken down 18-wheeler on Loop 306 on Friday.

Police say the officer was on the exit ramp in the 2800 block of Loop 306 westbound when traffic began to back up. An 18-wheeler had broken down on the ramp.

A Ford F-250 was behind the police cruiser and wasn't paying attention to the traffic in front of him according to police. When he looked back in front of him, it was too late to stop in time. So, the driver attempted to veer off to the right and miss the cop car. However, the extended mirror from the F-250 hit the rear window of the cop car and broke it.

No injuries were reported in the crash. The driver of the F-250 was cited for failure to control speed.
