Driving Conditions Remain Dangerous as Roads Reopen After Multiple Crashes Across the San Angelo Area
SAN ANGELO, TX -- Department of Public Safety Troopers, Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies and Volunteer Firefighters are working multiple weather related crashes Wednesday morning. Authorities are urging drivers to avoid travel on U.S. 87 N. between San Angelo and Grape Creek.
Crashes have shut down the U.S. 87 overpass at FM 2288 in Grape Creek and the U.S. 87 overpass at N. Chadbourne.
Light freezing rain continues to fall making driving conditions worse.

DPS Trooper Justin Baker says the DPS is urging motorists to avoid State Highway 158 between Sterling City and Midland due to icy conditions.
San Angelo Police are responding to a crash call in the 5400 block of Houston Harte.
Roadways all across West Texas are being affected by the weather conditions as frozen precipitation continues to fall.
Drivers are urged to avoid travel if at all possible.

Bridges and overpasses are iced over in San Angelo causing multiple crashes on Houston Harte. San Angelo Police are closing the Loop 306 Overpass over Sherwood Way because it is iced over.
UPDATE: Wed. 8:50 a.m.
San Angelo Police have shut down the Knickerbocker Rd. bridge over Lake Nasworthy due to a one vehicle crash. Crashes are also reported on U.S. 277 just north of Christoval, on U.S. 67 north of the San Angelo city limits. TxDOT crews are deicing area bridges and overpasses.

The Texas Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that the bridges and overpasses that are closed for crashes reopen after law enforcement officials complete their investigation and the roadway is cleared.
