1 Dead After Wrong Way Driver Causes Two-Car Crash East of Abilene

 

ABILENE, TX-- One man died and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash where one driver was going the wrong way and both vehicles rolled over east of Abilene on Monday.

Daniel Lyn Shay, 68, of Abilene, was in a 2004 Buick traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-20 one mile east of Abilene. He then hit a westbound GMC Terrain and the two vehicles proceeded to roll before coming to rest. The Buick landed in the median and the GMC landed in a barrow ditch.

The driver of the GMC, Rodolfo Cardona, 53, of Abilene, was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition.

Shay was pronounced dead at the scene.
