SAN ANGELO, TX -- The three drivers in the fatal crash Nov.1 on U.S. Highway 67 west of San Angelo have been identified.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Sgt. Justin Baker, the deceased driver of the 2014 Chevy Silverado is identified as 48-year-old Roy Flores Carrillo of San Angelo.
The driver of the 2018 F-350 who caused the crash is identified by DPS as 51-year-old Oral Kevin Thorp of Knickerbocker, TX. He was not injured.
The driver of the 2003 Chevy Silverado is identified as 71-year-old Gus Andrew Daniel of San Angelo.
As we reported the night of the crash, the preliminary investigation shows the F-350 driven by Thorp was traveling eastbound on U.S. 67 at a very high rate of speed striking the rear the silver 2014 Chevrolet pickup also traveling eastbound on U.S. 67. The crash forced yhe 2014 Chevy off the left side of the road. After that crash, the f-350 continued eastbound and struck the 2003 Chevrolet pickup which was forced off the right side of the roadway. After striking both vehicles, the F-350 came to rest on the right side of the roadway. The drivers of the Chevys were transported to Shannon Medical Center. Shortly after 7:00 p.m. Carrillo was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained during the crash.
The investigation is ongoing. As of Monday, no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made.

PermalinkMay I just start off by offering my sincerest condolences to the ones who lost their dear family member.
While myself nor any other one person knows why or what actually happened on that evening, can nor should bad mouth or blame the driver that caused the accident. Yes, I do understand how the ones that were involved can harbor ill feelings and even hate and anger at that person and even towards God. Grief is powerful emotion. And it is a normal human response to lash out at someone. I do know that for anyone who has been in a horrible accident and is at fault generally has to carry that with them for the rest of their days. That, in and of itself is the burden that person has to bare.
Accidents are called so because it usually means that a person would normally not ever hurt, let alone, kill on purpose.
At 48 years of age, I personally had my very first vehicle accident. I rearended a person and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank God that all involved walked away unharmed. And I truly believe that there are very, very few that have not had a close call.
I pray for all that were involved and for the countless many that have been and will continue to be.....as were even this very morning! People please pay attention! As for me, I will travel from my Knickerbocker home to town by way of Knickerbocker Rd and past the airport into town. I'll take my chances with the deer!
If more folks would spend their efforts calling and working with the hwy dept. maybe 67 wouldn't be so dangerous. I shudder to think the count of folks who have died and I would wager to bet that it was by their own recklessness. As I do know that I will pass Kevin Thorp, his family and their company trucks, I will continue to raise my hand at the steering wheel and wave. My proud Texas greeting.
