DPS: Driver in Horrific Rollover on US 277 in Stable Condition

CHRISTOVAL, TX-- The driver involved in a grisly rollover on U.S. Highway 277 is said to be in "stable condition," according to Sergeant Justin Baker with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The driver was air-lifted from the scene to an undisclosed hospital.

The crash happened after midnight on Thursday morning. The Ford F-model welding truck had the roof of the cab crushed flat and the gear attached to the bed of the truck was scattered on the roadway.

The truck went off the road before going back on the road and rolling, witnesses at the scene said. That is an unconfirmed report, however, with DPS still investigating the crash.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway were closed while first responders tended to the scene.
