Passenger Killed After VW Pulled Out in front of Peterbilt

 

EASTLAND COUNTY, TX — A Gorman man was killed after his wife pulled out in front of an 18-wheeler on State Highway 16 near Desdemona in Eastland County on Wednesday.

According to the Texas DPS, Shirley Thompson Good, 80, of Gorman, was on Farm-to-Market Road 8 at the intersection with SH-16 and failed to yield the right-of-way to a southbound 18-wheeler on SH-16. The 18-wheeler collided with the 2016 VW Jetta she was driving.

Her passenger, Kenneth Preston Good, 80, also of Gorman died after being transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Ms. Gorman was also transported to that hospital with what the DPS described as serious injuries.

The location of the crash:

The driver of the 1995 Peterbilt truck tractor pulling a semi-trailer, Jonathan Peter Sieperda, 40, of De Leon, was not injured.

DPS reported the crash happened Aug. 1 at 12:30 p.m. The weather was clear and cloudy and the roadway dry. All involved were wearing seatbelts, according to the DPS.
