DPS Confirms Fatality in Crash on U.S. 67 Near Boy's Ranch Turnoff

A four-wheeled Hyundai tangled with a big rig fuel truck and ended up rolled over and in a ditch. After being extracted from the Hyundai, what initial observations revealed at the time, the sole occupant of the passenger vehicle was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. DPS confirmed the driver of the Hyundai later died as a result of the crash.

Damage to the overhead lights was visible and one light pole was laying on the ground.

From observation, the crude oil truck was southwest bound on U.S. 67 when the Hyundai and the fuel truck collided. We confirmed it was a crude truck and further learned the semi-trailer was empty.

DPS troopers are investigating the crash. Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department is directing traffic. Traffic is backed up in both directions on U.S. 67.

For hours, the traffic is down to one total lane and eastbound and westbound traffic is being directed through one direction at a time, alternating. Troopers were working at the crash scene four hours after the initial call Friday evening.

DPS spokesman Sgt. Justin Baker said more information will be released soon.
