Passenger Identified in Rollover Crash Arrested for Violating a Protective Order

SAN ANGELO, TX -- (SAPD Press Release) Just before noon today, San Angelo Police responded to the 4000 block of the West Houston Harte Expressway frontage road for the report of a single-vehicle rollover crash. While enroute, responding Officers received information that the vehicle’s occupants fled the scene.

As we reported from the scene, the two occupants of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash.

The occupants were subsequently located near the 5700 block of Green Hill Road and transported back to the crash site. They reported no injuries. A preliminary crash investigation revealed the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, a 27-year-old woman from Big Spring, was reportedly distracted when the pickup left the roadway, traveled up a nearby utility pole’s guy-wire, and collided with the pole before it came to rest on it’s top.

The driver received citations for Turn when Unsafe and Fail to Stop and Leave Information Upon Striking a Fixed Object. The passenger, identified as Jonathan Mata, 33, was arrested for Violation of Protective Order. Traffic was reduced to one lane during the investigation and AEP responded to assess the integrity of the pole and guy-wires.
