Alleged Drunk Driver Mows Down Traffic Light, Power Pole While 2 Children Were Riding Along
SAN ANGELO, TX — A woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after she ran down a signal light pole and power pole near Angelo State University's Porter Henderson Library.
According to San Angelo Police Officer Michael Webber, with the woman were two children. Inside the vehicle, police found an open container of alcohol but only one car seat for her two children.
Webber said police had received reports of a reckless driver operating a vehicle like the silver Dodge Nitro police found crashed in the middle of Johnson St.in the middle of ASU's campus Sunday evening just after 8 p.m.
The female driver so far has been cited with DWI, for which she is headed for jail; driving with invalid license; no insurance; failure to control speed; and driving with an open container of alcohol. Police were seen pouring out a tall boy sized beer at the scene.
The children riding with her were unharmed. A family member arrived to retrieve them. The Dodge Nitro was likely totaled. ASU police assisted.
