Wearing No Seatbelt May Have Killed this 20-Year-Old Man in Rollover Crash

 

COAHOMA, TX — A 20-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Coahoma Wednesday, DPS reported Sunday night.

According to the report, Fernando L. Gonzalez, 20, of Big Spring was traveling east on Midway Road, about two miles west of Coahoma, in his 2006 Ford Mustang.

DPS reported the Mustang departed the prepared surface, causing Gonzalez to over-correct. In the swerve, the Mustang rolled.

Gonzalez was not wearing a seatbelt.

He was rushed to Scenic Mountain Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead by Dr. Alex Farahmand there.

DPS reported that when the crash happened, Feb. 28 at 7:11 a.m., the weather was clear and the roadway dry. The posted speed limit along this stretch of road is 45 mph.

People would know by now seatbelts save lives. I reminded my daughter to put it on every time she drove...such a little thing, it takes two seconds to put it on. RIP to the victim.
