Police Identify Michigan Driver Killed in Icy Roll Over

San Angelo Police identify the driver who died in an icy roll over crash Wednesday morning.  According to San Angelo Public Information Officer Matthew Vaughn, 52-year-old Felix Hernandez died at the scene at approximately 9:45 a.m.  The female passenger was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.  

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- An icy overpass and driving too fast for the road conditions claims the life of Michigan man Wednesday morning.  

According to San Angelo Police Investigating Officer Gesch, the 2002 Ford Explorer hit a patch of ice on the overpass coming off U.S. 67 westbound to Loop 306 southbound near Pulliam St., hit the guardrail and rolled several times landing upside down.

Gesch says the male driver was dead at the scene and the female passenger was taken by ambulance to the hospital.  

The road was blocked of for several hours as first responders tended to the driver and passenger and cleared the roadway.  

Authorities have not identified the victims.  

This fatal crash was one of at least four on Loop 306 near that intersection Wednesday morning because of ice on the overpasses.
