Teen Sent to Local Hospital After SUV and Semi Collide

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Around noon today, a 2008 Ford Escape collided with a 2012 semi-truck after the semi-truck attempted to make a right-hand turn.

Officer Bylsma with the San Angelo Police Department stated that, according to witness reports, the semi was traveling southbound in the right lane on US HWY 277 when it pulled into the left lane. The semi then positioned itself to make a right-hand turn into a private drive and began to turn. The oncoming Ford, that had been traveling in the left lane, switched to the right as the semi began to turn and collided with the passenger side of the Semi.

Both passengers of the Ford suffered non-incapacitating injuries. The 19-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

The driver of the semi was issued a citation for an unsafe right-hand turn.

One lane was closed while first responders worked to clean up the accident.
