Driver Was Drunk Driving Before Fatal Accident That Killed 5 Passengers

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- It has been a little over two weeks since LIVE! reported on a two-vehicle collision near Highway 191 and County Road 1275 that left five people dead, including two children.

In a preliminary investigation report, Midland police say a gray Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on the  highway, when the female driver crossed the median into the west bound lanes resulting in a head-on collision with a white Toyota Tundra.

Law enforcement officials later identified the five victims of the fatal two-vehicle accident. The occupants of the grey Nissan were identified as Kelly Brooks, 27, and her two children Kadyn Ann Pitts, 6, and Bailey Gonzalez, six weeks. Brooks and her children were all Odessa residents. The older daughter, Kadyn, would have turned 7 three days after the crash. The two occupants of the Toyota Tundra have been identified as Nguon Tang, 40, and Augustin Esquivel, 41.

In a recent statement from the Midland Police Department, it has been confirmed that the driver of the Nissan, Brooks, had been drinking prior to the accident. A toxicology report shows that Brooks blood alcohol content was .278, almost 4 times the legal limit of .08.
