Runaway Trailer Causes Fatal Crash on FM 2288

A fatality is suspected in a major crash on FM 2288 near the bridge over the Potts Creek just south of the Old Sterling City Highway.

From inspecting the scene of the crash, it looks like a trailer containing miscellaneous cargo and a Kawasaki ATV detached from a RV traveling northbound. The runaway trailer caused at least one vehicle to crash on the bridge. We believe the fatality is in that vehicle.

On the bridge, debris from the other contents of the trailer can be seen scattered over both lanes of traffic.

Texas DPS arrived quickly in the crash and called for immediate assistance. Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies, Grape Creek VFD, and San Angelo EMS are assisting.

The RV is stopped about one mile north of the crash scene.

Nothing reported here is confirmed with authorities; it is all derived from our observation. This is a breaking story and more will be added as information arrives.
