Bronte Man Killed While Running from Sheriff's Deputies

One man was killed and another injured evading Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday night.

The Texas DPS reports that the two men were eastbound on Lipan Creek Road racing away from a deputy in pursuit when the driver, Gerod Vincent Rockwell, 31, of Bronte, lost control of his 2001 Buick LeSabre. The LeSabre ran through a barrow ditch before rolling over several times through a farm field. Rockwell was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The LeSabre came to a rest upside-down facing west.

Rockwell’s passenger, Rudolfo Santellano, 29, was injured and rushed to Shannon Medical Center where his condition is unknown, DPS reported.

The crash happened at 10:44 p.m. last night, 15.2 miles east of San Angelo on Lipan Creek Road. The skies were clear and the roadway dry, DPS reported.
