The LIVE! #COVER1 Crew is Covering All of the UIL State Football Championship Games from Arlington

 

ARLINGTON, TX – Your favorite high school football coverage team, #COVER1 at San Angelo LIVE! hit the road this week to bring you recaps of all the games at the Texas High School UIL Football State Championships. The coverage is sponsored by W & W AFCO Steel.

The Texas High School Football State Championships kicked off with a bang on Wednesday. The 1A 6-man schools Blum and McLean went back and forth from the opening kickoff and stayed within two possessions for the most of game. The game went down to the wire and Blum narrowly defeated McLean 58-52. Here is the story: #COVER1: 34 Point 2nd Half Notches Blum's First-Ever State Title 

The second game on Wednesday was the Refugio Bobcats against the Post Antelopes. You may recall that Refugio is the longtime rival of Mason's during every year's playoffs. This year, Mason lost before having to face Refugio, and Refugio made it to the championships. The Refugio-Post game started off ugly for the 15-0 Refugio Bobcats, but senior quarterback Austin Ochoa and their defense eventually wore down the previously unbeaten Post Antelopes. The final score was Refugio 28, Post 7. The Championship is Refugio's fifth in school history and first since 2016. They have three this decade.  The other was in 2011. Thursday's action kicked off with the Mart Panthers against the Hamlin Pied Pipers. Mart was chsing their 8th State Championship in school history, their 5th since 2006, and their third consecutive. Hamlin, on the other hand, was making their first apperance in a title game. Mart was able to pick up their third straight state title with the 25-20 win. The next game on the Cover1 schedule was the Pewitt Brahmas and the Gunter Tigers. The Pewitt Brahmas scored 14 points in the final few minutes of the second quarter to give Gunter a scare, but the Tigers dominated the rest of the game on their way to their second state championship in school history.The final score was 43-22 Gunter. As the Aledo Bearcats chased their ninth state championship in school history, 4 and 5 star recruits from both teams stole the show.  For Aledo, their offense was filled with marquee players.  Senior running back Jase McClellan came into this game fresh off signing a letter of intent to Alabama.  Senior wide receiver Money Parks signed to play for the Utah Utes next season.  Junior Jo Jo Earle, who has a 4 star billing and holds offers from Texas, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, LSU, and more, completed the loaded offense. Final Score: Aledo 45, Marshall 42.
