Smell Smoke in San Angelo? Here's Why.

CHRISTOVAL, TX — If you smell smoke all over San Angelo, you are not alone. Multiple citizens have reported to us that "something is on fire!"

We looked into the smoke and found a likely culprit located southwest of Christoval. According to the Christoval Volunteer Fire Department, there is a large controlled burn southwest of Christoval. They said smoke will be visible for miles.

The Christoval VFD said the controlled burn was accomplished in accordance with the law and with permission. However, the VFD is not participating by providing fire coverage. According to Tom Green County, a burn ban is in effect county-wide.

Winds are blowing out of the south and 13 mph, gusting to 21 mph, sending the smoke our way.
